LMRYC acknowledges the ARYA Code of Conduct and World Sailing’s Racing Rules of Sailing
By being accepted as a member Lake Macquarie Radio Yacht Club Inc and participating in events and communications conducted by the LMRYC, I will agree and adhere to the following CODE of CONDUCT:
- Comply with the Constitution of the Club, Rules and By-Laws of the LMRYC as published from time to time.
- Comply with the WORLD SAILING – Racing Rules of Sailing, as amended and utilized by LMRYC.
- Conduct myself in an appropriate manner as to attire, language, actions and respect for the rights of other members.
- Not engage in overtly aggressive behaviour or personal confrontation.
- Respond to situations where you see others being treated unfairly, bullied or harassed,
- When competing in sailing events, contribute to safe and harassment-free sport by:
- Adhering to the spirit of sportsmanship and the Racing Rules of Sailing,
- Treating others with dignity and respect; where there is an incident on the water, talk to the other skipper, do not yell, and sort the incident on the water if possible. If it is not possible, lodge a protest and have your fellow skippers adjudicate.
- Behaving in a manner that does not put either yourself , or others, or equipment at risk of harm.
Breaches of this Code of Conduct that are referred to the Club Committee may be subject to disciplinary action as set out in the Club Constitution. Reportable breaches arise from report(s) by club members to any committee member. The process followed by the LMRYC Committee if a breach has been determined may be as follows, dependent on the severity of the confirmed breach.
- First Infringement – written warning & / or periodic suspension for a number of events.
- Second Infringement – written warning and mandatory suspension / or immediate expulsion.
- Third Infringement – Expulsion from membership, as per the LMRYC Constitution.
